Approx
10.30am from Cavendish Arms pub, Doveridge
(GR 117345) after arrival of car pool. The pub have agreed
that we may park in their car park.
|
Circular
walk starting in a northerly direction along tracks &
across meadows to Eaton Barn via Upwoods Farm & Upper
Eaton Farm involving a steady ascent of 60m for the 1st mile,
and then descending westerly 40m over 1/3 mile to join the
Staffordshire Way southerly back to Doveridge (including a
35m ascent over ¼ mile). At 3 ¾ miles (just
after the ascent) some or all walkers can decide whether to
extend the walk to a total of 5 ¾ miles, or merely
continue to the pub 1 mile further on downhill. Peter did
part of this walk a number of years ago, but is largely unfamiliar
with it & planning to lead simply from the OS map; so
accept prospects of momentarily being lost! Almost inevitably
there will be some stiles.
