The Gardens Group

We mainly visit Gardens and Nurseries but we also discuss plant problems and exchange cuttings / plants etc. However we are still developing ideas so this may change.

We meet about once a month - although the visits can be anytime. The meeting place is either the venue for the visit or the Study Group leader's house .

The cost is the price of the Garden entry or a voluntary contribution.

This year we have decided to vary the days we go out, to enable members with other commitments to join us more often.

We have had excellent attendance during our summer visits, and in fact have had to disappoint one or two members.

We had a most enjoyable, but wet visit to Belton House, so it was fortunate that there was plenty of interest inside. Those of us who ventured into the formal gardens as far as the Orangery were delighted with what we saw. It was a shame that for most, the lake and boathouse were too far in the heavy rain.
Next visit is to Sheffield Botanic Gardens on Monday 13th September – 9.30 am at Marks & Spencer Carpark. There are still a few spaces left on the Community Transport bus.
At present our October visit is in doubt. It should be to Bodenham Arboretum on Thursday 21st October, but I cannot now manage that date. We could change the day to the Friday 22nd October, or someone else can take charge on the original date. It is a long way – near Stourbridge in Worcestershire – about 2 hours each way, so you might like to consider somewhere nearer such as Tatton Park. Please let me know your preferences as soon as possible so that I can arrange the transport.
Thank you for your continuing support. Sue
