We mainly
visit Gardens and Nurseries but we also discuss plant problems
and exchange cuttings / plants etc. However we are still developing
ideas so this may change.
We meet about
once a month - although the visits can be anytime. The meeting
place is either the venue for the visit or the Study Group leader's
house .
The cost is
the price of the Garden entry or a voluntary contribution.
This year
we have decided to vary the days we go out, to enable members
with other commitments to join us more often.
We have had
excellent attendance during our summer visits, and in fact have
had to disappoint one or two members.
Over a dozen
people helped in the planning of next year’s programme,
so we achieved a good variety of activities. We decided not to
visit gardens in the winter months because of the unreliable weather,
but to go further afield for some summer outings.
22 of us had a very enjoyable leisurely lunch at The Coach and
Horses Inn at Fenny Bentley, as our belated New Year ‘treat’.
The next meeting is at my house on Wednesday 15th February 12.00
for 12.30, when we will have lunch followed by a light hearted
quiz, with a small prize for the winner. Again numbers will be
limited, so please phone me if you wish to come.
Our March meeting on Monday 19th will be to two Derby Garden Centres
at Findern and Little Eaton, with lunch in between. We shall be
using our own cars – I suggest people get together and share.
There will be a sign up sheet at the February Meeting so that
we have a rough idea of who is going, and who to look out for.
