The Music Group

The Music Group meets on the fourth Friday of the month.   Meetings now start at 10am at The Station Hotel, Ashbourne, all welcome.

The aim of the group is enjoyment; learning and new interests are 'value added'. So far we have concentrated on classical music, but all genres are in our sights and anything is possible.
Members of the group have given a talks on various themes, and it’s so good when people are willing to contribute in this way. In my opinion, it’s what U3A is about, so well done them. When we considered Shostakovitch some were surprised at the variety and quality of the works composed by him, and a few added their personal experiences of the music of this composer, which always adds interest to the discussion.  It is difficult sometimes to gauge members' level of appreciation, so please, no one must feel intimidated by the subject, because we are all learning, all of the time.

The next meeting will be on October 1st ( the same date as the General Meeting), when we will discuss what we'd like to do over the forthcoming weeks, as well as enjoying part of a concert from St Petersburg on DVD.

Anyone interested in joining the group, please contact Knighton Butterworth, on 324435, e-mail: kanda.butterworth@btinternet.com
