Our broad
plan is to alternate monthly visits with talks or study sessions.
Normally we are aiming for our meetings to be, where possible,
on the fourth Wednesday of the month to enable members to have
helpful, up to date information from the monthly newsletter.
However we have to be flexible to fit in with locations, transport
availability and gallery events. Ashbourne meetings generally
will be at the Station Hotel.
For the
winter at least we can revert to our usual time of 2.30 pm and
to the fourth Wednesday in the month at the Station Hotel. Do
please support this group to prevent it falling by the wayside.
Queries, comments or suggestions to Sheila on 347493 or Anne
Butterworth on 324435.
We had an
excellent response to our May meeting when local sculptor, Simon
Manby, gave us an insight into the complexities of sculpture.
It is certainly not simply a question of firing a clay model
and having it cast! It was a most interesting demonstration
enjoyed by all.
Next meeting:
Wednesday 22nd September at 2.30 pm in the Station Hotel
when we will consider the work of Jackson Pollock. Paul Jackson
Pollock (January 28, 1912 – August 11, 1956) was an influential
American painter and a major figure in the abstract expressionist
movement. During his lifetime, Pollock enjoyed considerable
fame and notoriety.
